Impact of Changed Use of Greenspace during COVID-19 Pandemic on Depression and Anxiety

The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating consequences for health, social, and economic domains, but what received far less focus is the effect on people’s relationship to vital ecological supports, including access greenspace. We assessed patterns of greenspace use in relation individual environmental factors their with experiencing psychological symptoms under pandemic. conducted an online survey recruiting participants from social media adults Korea September–December 2020. collected data demographics, using during pandemic, major depression (MD) generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) symptoms. Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) Generalized Anxiety Disorder 2-item (GAD-2) were applied identify probable cases MD GAD. A logistic regression model association decreased visits after outbreak compared 2019 Among 322 participants, prevalence GAD 19.3% 14.9%, respectively. High rates (23.3%) (19.4%) found among persons currently having job-related financial issues. Of total 64.9% reported outbreak.
